It All Started

The God Belongs in My City (GBIMC) movement began in New York City in 2009, when a small group of young people were challenged to take their faith beyond the walls of the church and into the heart of their city. What started as one prayer walk soon spread to cities across the nation and around the world.

Our Story in Jacksonville

In 2011, Jacksonville adopted the GBIMC movement, joining hands with believers across the city to declare that God belongs here too. Since then, we’ve gathered year after year to pray for our schools, families, leaders, and neighborhoods—believing that when God’s people unite in prayer, cities can be transformed.

Who We Are

We are a diverse group of churches, pastors, leaders, and believers who come together across denominations to proclaim one message: God belongs in Jacksonville. Our mission is simple—walk, pray, and stand in unity for our city.

Our Mission

  • To unite churches and believers of all ages and backgrounds.

  • To pray publicly for our city and its leaders.

  • To inspire a generation to live boldly for Christ.

  • To declare with one voice that God belongs in Jacksonville!
